2012-10-30 Parlamentarischer AbendOn 25 October 2012, the Minority Council of the four autochthonous, national minorities in Germany, organised a parliamentary evening at the representation of the Federal State of Saxony in Berlin. The four recognised minorities in Germany are the Sinti and Roma, Danes, Frisians and Sorbs.

Also representatives of the Federal Union of European Nationalities (FUEN), the Youth of European Nationalities (YEN) and the language diversity team were present.

The evening was opened with the welcome speech by Dieter Küssner, who is the chairman of the Minority Council, and by State Secretary Erhard Weimann, the official representative of the Federal State of Saxony and also host of the event. Subsequently, the Memorial to the Murdered Sinti and Roma was on the agenda, which was officially opened that same day in Berlin. Here, Romani Rose, Chairman of the Central Council of German Roma and Sinti, reminded of the German Sinti and Roma. Another focus of the event was put on the 100th anniversary of the Domowina, the Federation of Lusatian Sorbs. In this speech, Domowinas´ Chairman David Statnik focused in particular on the obligations and demands in the 21st century.

The evening ended with the premiere of the documentary film about the EUROPEADA 2012 in Lusatia/Łužica, produced by language diversity. Afterwards, the guests we invited to have a reception in a relaxed atmosphere. Among them were not only minority representatives, but also members of the Parliament and the Government.
