How do you raise awareness among children and adults about linguistic diversity?
I) Strategic language planning in the context of European language minorities
The aim of this contribution is to point to a number of “general principles”, which in particular those language communities who have little resources may use – either to think about how to shape future measures, or to undertake constructive criticism of measures that were already developed.
II) Language minorities in Europe: challenges and perspectives
This overview deals predominantly with the challenges that the autochthonous language minorities are confronted with nowadays and on the way how language policy and language planning may help to meet these challenges from a theoretical perspective. In that regard especially the language planning potential of the European Charter for Regional or Minority Languages is emphasised.
III) Small compendium on terminology relevant in the context of language minorities
This compendium includes some terminology used often in linguistics on the subject of autochthonous European language minorities.
